Terms of use
These terms cover researchworkbench.space, its forum, the cloud workbench, and the desktop workbench and browser extension you can download from it. By using them, or by creating an account, you agree to these terms.
Who we are
Research Workbench is run by Enrico Rossini, an individual, in the United Kingdom. Questions about these terms go to privacy@researchworkbench.space.
Your account
- You must be 16 or over to create an account.
- Give accurate details, keep your password and passkeys to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- One account per person. The cloud workbench is by invitation, and an invitation is personal.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account's personal data page.
What you put in
What you write, upload or keep remains yours. You give us only the permission needed to store it, show it where you choose (in the forum, to everyone) and back it up. You are responsible for having the right to put it there, including other people's work and personal data.
In the forum and anywhere else on the site, do not:
- post anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing or hateful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights;
- post other people's personal data without their agreement;
- advertise, spam, or impersonate anyone;
- try to get into accounts or data that are not yours, or to disrupt or overload the service.
We may remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend or close an account that does so seriously or repeatedly, telling you why unless the law prevents it.
AI providers and your keys
The workbench uses AI providers with keys you supply. Your use of each provider is under your own agreement with them, and any charges are yours. What an AI model produces can be wrong: the workbench records every call so you can check it, and checking it before you rely on it — in a paper, a thesis or anything else — is your responsibility.
The software, as it is
Research Workbench is in preview. It is provided free and as it is, without any promise that it will be available, free of faults, or suited to a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose; the desktop workbench keeps your vault as ordinary files on your computer for that reason. Features may change or be withdrawn.
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss of data, work, income or opportunity arising from using the site or the software. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Privacy, changes and law
How personal data is handled is set out in the privacy policy. If these terms change, this page changes first, with its date, and a change that matters to you is emailed to account holders before it takes effect.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
